UTC to introduce new snapshot shortwave infrared camera

UTC Aerospace Systems will introduce a next generation sensors unlimited high resolution snapshot shortwave infrared (SWIR) camera at the 2013 SPIE Defense Security & Sensing Exhibition.

The event will be held from 29 April to 2 May at the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland, US.

Featuring 640×512 pixel SWIR image sensor with 12.5 micron pixel pitch, the high sensitivity, mil-rugged Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) SWIR camera provides small size, weight, and power (SWaP), and daylight to low-light imaging capability.

The new affordable high performance SWIR imager can be used for a variety of industrial and military systems applications such as industrial process monitoring, enhanced vision, persistent surveillance, and laser spot tracking.

Weighing less than 55gm, the Sensors Unlimited 640-MicroSWIR camera measures 1.25in x 1.25in x 1.25in and consumes less than 2W of power at 20o Celsius.

Capable of operating from -40o to 70o Celsius case temperatures, the camera is equipped with industry standard C-mount lens interface on a 2/3in camera format to enable users to select a list of lens options.

In addition to providing low noise imaging capability (35e- total noise), the MicroSWIR camera features on-board automatic gain control (AGC), non-uniformity corrections (NUCs), and dynamic range enhancements for optimised imagery in a wide variety of lighting conditions.

Built for rugged operation, the 640-MicroSWIR has undergone MIL-STD-810G environmental testing and CE certification.
