FLIR introduces two new ground surveillance tools for border security and force protection

FLIR Systems has launched two new advanced ground surveillance tools at Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida, US.

The two tools, LTV-X Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) and the FLIR Ranger R6SS portable radar, have been developed to enhance force protection and border security.

The LTV-X is a tactical reconnaissance vehicle that aids in rapid deployment during emergency operational requirements and offers near-silent operation when stationary.

It features multiple integrated sensors along with onboard command and control system to provide total control, exploitation, dissemination of real-time imagery and target tracking between deployed mobile and fixed assets.

The LTV-X incorporates a wireless system that provides target bearing and geo-referenced coordinates to other personnel, and vehicles.

The FLIR Ranger R6SS portable radar features built-in North-finding and GPS capabilities and X-band operation for superior rain penetration. It can detect and track personnel and vehicles within a 15km range, with a low false alarm rate.

FLIR Ranger R6SS also features Digital Beam-Forming (DBF) and a high-speed refresh rate that aids in better target detection, acquisition, classification as well as clutter rejection.

In addition to these tools, operators can use multiple vehicles, sensors, and even unmanned aerial system (UAS) assets based on the mission objectives.
