Elbit Systems secures contract from Asia-Pacific country to support ISTAR missions

Israel’s Elbit Systems has secured a contract from an Asia-Pacific country to deliver an airborne solution to support intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions for a period of three years.

Valued at approximately $50m, the contract will be executed by Elbit Systems’ ISTAR Division.

The solution which includes the upgrade of its already-deployed, long-range electro-optical (EO) cameras and sensors are expected to help develop the existing intelligence and surveillance capabilities of the customer.

Additionally, the cameras will be supplemented with ELTA System’s advanced SAR/GMTI Reconnaissance systems.

Elbit Systems’ President and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said: "We are proud of this contract award that attests to our ability to deliver world leading solutions which meet current and future intelligence needs.

"By combining multiple sensors, advanced C4I and intelligence analysis systems, all into one integrated solution, we enable customers to carry out more effective and flexible ISTAR operations.

The solution is expected to enable the customer perform advanced functions including s mission planning, battlefield management, terrain analysis and simulation modelling, both before and during intelligence-gathering operations.

Machlis added: "There is a growing demand for this sort of solution, and we hope that this project, which marks a significant milestone for us, will lead to more orders from new and existing customers in the near future".
