Leidos UK names new MD for National Security and Defence Business

Leidos UK has confirmed the appointment of Al Potter as the managing director (MD) of the National Security and Defence Business.

Potter will be responsible for engaging the defence, intelligence and national security markets.

He joins Leidos UK from Boeing Defence UK, where he served as the managing director of the Government Service Business.

Leidos UK and Europe chief executive Simon Fovargue said: “We see enormous opportunity to contribute towards the UK Government’s security and defence agenda leveraging the wider company and growing organic skills and capability.

“Bringing someone of Al’s calibre and expertise to lead on these efforts is a great coup for us and I am confident that he will make a meaningful impact on this priority market for us.”

Potter started his career as a Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot flying Search and Rescue helicopters. He rose to the rank of Squadron Leader following 23 years of service.

He also worked with Lockheed Martin Global for four years as business development director for the UK and Europe.

“I have known Simon for a number of years, he is a top-class leader and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the team at Leidos.”

Headquartered in the US, Leidos delivers information technology, engineering, technical solutions and services to defence, homeland security and other industry verticals.

The company recently secured a task order from the US Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG).
