ArmorSource completes first article testing for US Army Combat Helmet

ArmorSource has completed first article testing (FAT) for the US Army Lightweight Advanced Combat Helmet (LW-ACH).

Under the terms of the contract signed with US Department of Defense (DoD), the company will supply 105,000 helmets to the US Army throughout 2016.

Deliveries are expected to take place in spring 2016.

The company said the completion of FAT testing confirms that enhanced ballistic protection can and does simultaneously deliver a 10% weight reduction.

The new LW-ACH developed by ArmorSource is four ounces lighter than the existing Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH).

The company claims that the new helmets will ensure better protection while reducing the weight of the soldier protection gear.

ArmorSource CEO Yoav Kapah said: "The LW-ACH FAT was challenging. It presented extensive and evolved ballistic test protocols.But the vigorous process assures the Army and the soldiers that the helmet delivers improved and enhanced protection.

Deliveries under the contract are expected to take place in early this year.
