US DHS selects Raytheon to provide mission critical cybersecurity solutions

Raytheon Company has entered into an IDIQ contract by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to be the prime contractor and systems integrator for the agency’s Network Security Deployment (NSD) Division for $1bn.

Under the terms of the deal, Raytheon will provide National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) with design, development, and operations and maintenance services supporting National Cybersecurity Protection System (NCPS).

The five-year contract can be extended up to an additional 24 months and will ensure protection of the network systems of more than 100 federal civilian government agencies, against advanced cyber threats.

In addition, the contract is expected to provide full lifecycle development and sustainment support for the NSD Unit in tackling cyber attacks.

Wajsgras added: "Cybersecurity incidents have increased an average of 66% a year worldwide between 2009 and 2014."

Raytheon was previously selected by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to operate as a commercial service provider under the recently expanded Enhanced Cybersecurity Services (ECS) programme.
