US Army’s 20th CBRNE Command conducts Exercise Atropian Phoenix

The US Army’s 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command is participating in the nation-wide training Exercise Atropian Phoenix, in a bid to sharpen its mission command capabilities.

The exercise is aimed at enabling the US Army’s only CBRNE formation to deal with a range of high-stakes scenarios.

During Exercise Atropian Phoenix, the 20th CBRNE Command has been aligning its three brigades with regionally aligned brigades including I Corps, III Corps and XVIII Airborne Corps covering Asia Pacific; Europe, Africa and Middle East.

The brigades will also cover Global Response Force missions in aid of the US Army’s efforts to align its combat forces across all regions in a bid to better accomplish its global mission.

Aberdeen Proving Ground-based 20th CBRNE Command commanding general Brigadier General JB Burton said: "The 20th CBRNE Command confronts the world’s most dangerous weapons in the world’s most dangerous places and Exercise Atropian Phoenix enables our Soldiers to hone their life-saving and mission-enabling skills."
