OSI’s Rapiscan secures order for RTT 110 EDS

OSI Systems security division Rapiscan Systems has secured a $11m worth order from an international customer for Real Time Tomography (RTT) explosives detection systems (EDS).

Under the deal, Rapiscan will supply its multiple units of RTT 110 EDS to the customer.

OSI Systems CEO Deepak Chopra said: "We look forward to providing this customer with an EDS solution based on RTT technology, which offers a generation leap in design, performance and reliability, utilising its innovative stationary gantry design."

The RTT uses solid-state approach, in a bid to offer high-resolution 3-D imaging. Its design helps in the effective inspection of hold baggage and air cargo, while maintaining capability to meet the most recent threat detection standards.

According to OSI, RTT passed the European Civil Aviation Conference’s (ECAC) HBS EDS Standard 3 threat detection requirement.

In January this year, Rapiscan also received a $5m worth order from an other international customer to provide multiple units of its RTT 110 screening system.

The system has been developed to provide high resolution scanning and automated threat detection of packages, containers and baggage at rates of up to 1,800 items per hour.

In June 2014, Rapiscan Systems received $12m order from the US government agency to carry out on-going maintenance and support services on various Rapiscan inspection platforms, including the Eagle M60 mobile high energy X-ray cargo and vehicle inspection system and 620DV (dual view) baggage and parcel inspection system.
