MilDef to deliver monitoring and tracking system to Sweden

MilDef Systems has been awarded a consignment to deliver a monitoring and tracking system for integration onboard cargo and logistic units at Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (Försvarets materielverk, FMV)

Integrating the situational command and control (SCC) TITAN developed by Track24 Defence and blended with sensors from MilDef, the system is aimed at offering the potential to monitor and track units across the world regardless of access to local infrastructure.

MilDef Systems managing director Johan Pakarinen said: "We are very pleased that FMV has selected MilDef Systems as a supplier, the system opens up new possibilities to manage the positioning and status monitoring of all kinds of cargo and logistic transport regardless of where they are globally."

The SCC Titan has been developed to offer commanders complete blue force tracking capabilities alongside upgraded features including red force contact, machine-to-machine (M2M) signalling, and a communications platform engineered to support and integrate battlefield VHF/UHF/HF radio, with the incumbent AES256-encrypted satellite communications network.

It also includes nearest responder automated alert capabilities, satellite-to-email transmissions and upgraded mission planning functionality.

Further, the system is capable of simultaneously handling personnel and vehicle monitoring (Friendly Force Tracking), while supporting two way encrypted messaging and factual situational awareness of all assets while on the go.

In 2012, FMV also awarded a contract to CELAB Communications for the delivery of 8,700 advanced encrypted personal role radio (EZPRR) man-worn communication systems together with about 50 vehicle systems.
