JIEDDO partners with CACI to defeat improvised explosive devices

CACI International has been awarded a contract to provide support services for the US Department of Defense’s Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) Special Operations Forces, Support Team (SOF ST).

Awarded by the General Services Administration Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM), the ask order has a maximum potential value of $149m, if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, the company will provide operations/intelligence integration teams that rotate between stateside and forward-deployed locations, working with their government counterparts to help understand violent extremist networks (VENs), identify their vulnerabilities and employ a range of solutions to defeat them.

CACI chief operating officer and US Operations president John Mengucci said: "CACI will continue to provide our proven processes and agile, experienced, and skilled staff to help the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization support global Special Operations.

"CACI’s long experience in counter-IED work is the root of our innovative solutions that allow the customer to take on expanded mission sets."

CACI president and chief executive officer Ken Asbury said: "This win expands our ability to meet the needs of the entire Special Operations Global Network and provide security solutions to the Intelligence Community and other entities involved in responding to asymmetric threats."

Since its inception in 1962, the company has been providing counter-improvised explosive devices (C-IED) support to JIEDDO, which was earlier known as the US Army IED Task Force.

The SOF ST supports JIEDDO’s Attack the Network mission, enabling Special Operations units performing a variety of activities to disrupt and defeat VENs that use or facilitate the use of IEDs.

JIEDDO’s Attack the Network mission enables offensive operations against complex networks of financiers, IED makers, trainers and their supporting infrastructure through provision of intelligence surveillance, reconnaissance, information operations, counter-bomber targeting, biometrics and weapons technical intelligence capabilities.
