Harris to deliver vehicle communication systems to US Air National Guard

The US Air National Guard (ANG) has awarded a contract to Harris for the delivery of vehicle communication systems for vital ground-to-air communications in the event of wartime and domestic emergency responses, such as natural disasters.

Under the contract, Harris will deliver Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios; the RF-7800I advanced vehicle intercom system; and a Unity XG-100M full-spectrum multiband mobile radio.

Harris RF Communications Department of Defense Business president George Helm said: "This system highlights Harris’ unique ability to integrate tactical and land mobile radio systems that bridge the needs of tactical and civilian responders.

"The system will allow the ANG to quickly respond to calls for assistance, establish communications, and coordinate missions with local authorities."

Leveraging Harris’ improved wideband tactical radio and systems integration capabilities, the five -channel vehicle communication systems will provide voice and data across the vicinity of the mission.

The deployment will bolster coordination and collaboration between ANG and local authorities, the company claims.

The AN/PRC-117G is claimed to be the first and only widely deployed tactical wideband networking radio offering secure interoperability with a range of US ground, airborne and satellite based communication assets.

Alongside, Harris will offer installation, training and ongoing service and support for the systems.
