GD to provide supply chain management services for DS

General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology has received a five-year contract from the US Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) to provide supply chain management services.

Under the initial award of $22m, the company will provide a full-spectrum global supply chain management solution which include technology infrastructure to integrate and manage the real-time flow of security equipment and related information for more than 430 facilities across the globe.

The total contract has a potential value of $2.2bn, if all options are exercised.

The State Department will use the solution to ensure its embassies and annexes have current and accurate information about equipment status, lead-time and shipment-tracking information.

General Dynamics Information Technology’s National and Homeland Security division senior vice president and general manager Zannie Smith said that the company provides solution to the State department to address critical supply chain challenges.

The contract vice president and managing executive Jay Erb said, "We look forward to providing the Department of State with our cost effective-solution that enables safe and secure environments for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy."

General Dynamics Information Technology provides logistics and supply chain management for federal civilian and US Department of Defense customers such as the US Army’s 1st Theater Sustainment Command in Afghanistan and Supply Support Activity in Kuwait.
