Argon to deliver PlumeSIM CBRN simulation system to German Federal Agency

Argon Electronics has received a contract for the delivery of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) simulation systems to Technische Hilfswerk (THW), the Federal Agency for Technical Relief and a unit of Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior.

Under the contract, Argon’s subsidiary OWR will deliver 40 G-SIM simulated survey metres and EPD-Mk2-SIM simulated dosimeter, which will be integrated with the company’s PlumeSIM training system to enhance the practicality of THW’s field training.

When activated, the simulation system will deliver realistic table top and live area radiological training scenarios and enable instructors to keep an eye on their students in real-time, while offering analysis and feedback following the exercise.

THW radiation protection officer Sebastian Kroll said Argon’s simulation system will considerably improve the realism of their CBRN field training and will help students to better understand what to do in the event of a real radiological incident.

"This is a key element for their safety," Kroll added.

"Argon’s system also offers us the opportunity to be flexible in usage and to add further CBRN training components if required in the future."

Mainly aimed at improving the CBRN field training being offered to its 80,000 team of volunteers at its training base at Neuhausen, near Stuttgart, THR is mainly focussing on dealing with a range of radiological hazards.

Argon Electronics’ has delivered similar systems to CBRN training facilities and businesses in the US, the UK, Ireland, Sweden and Canada.
