SBCSD’s Bell 212 aircraft receives upgrades from Vector Aerospace

Vector Aerospace, a provider of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, has upgraded the Bell 212 aircraft of San Bernardino County Sheriff Department (SBCSD).

The avionics and airframe upgrade also included tail boom structural modifications required for the installation of a new Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T-3DF Twin Pac engine.

Additionally, Vector completed a 100-hour inspection to ensure smooth functioning of the aircraft.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Department lieutenant Mitch Dattilo said: “We were happy to arrive at Vector’s Langley, BC facility to find our aircraft complete and ready to fly. Not surprisingly, Vector did a fantastic job on our Bell 212, providing top quality results and excellent customer service.”

Vector also applied full exterior paint adhering to the SBCSD specifications.

Vector Aerospace Sales – Rotary Wing vice-president Craig Pluim said “This is the first major airframe project that Vector has performed for the SBCSD and we are honoured to have been selected to upgrade their Bell 212 aircraft.”

The company was contracted earlier this month by Anaheim Police Department in Southern California to provide MRO support for its Airbus Helicopters AS350B2 components for a period of three years.

The Bell 212 can be configured for a range of operations including casualty evacuation, troop transportation or passenger carriage, cargo carriage, training and rescue missions.

The helicopters are in service with civil and military operators from various countries including Brazil, US, UK, Canada, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Turkey.
