Elbit to supply Peregrine systems to US Customs Border Protection

Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide Peregrine border security system for the CBP’s integrated fixed tower project.

Under the $145m firm fixed price contract, the initial phase, Elbit Systems will supply Peregrine border security system for CBP.

Capable of detecting and assessing items of interest from miles away, with speed and accuracy, the cost-effective, highly reliable system has been designed with ease of maintenance to improve border security along the borders of the US.

The US DHS CBP will deploy the Peregrine system in the Nogales, Arizona area.

Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz said that Peregrine system will meet the CBP mission requirements while enhancing its agents’ safety.

"We look forward to providing Peregrine to the men and women of the US Border Patrol and to assist them in making the border secure," Horowitz added.

Proven in challenging geographical areas, including flat deserts, mountainous terrain and heavy vegetation, the Peregrine border security solution features an open system architecture to enable integration with a variety of sensors to meet current needs and accommodate future growth.

The contract, which includes options for deployments at other locations across the Arizona border and support services, would be carried out over a nearly nine-year period if all options are exercised.
