Edge Velocity to deliver wireless communications capabilities to Raytheon

US-based Edge Velocity has entered into a contract with Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services for the provision of secure wireless communications capabilities.

As per the agreed terms, Edge Velocity will provide wireless communications capabilities for Raytheon’s CommandPad system, an incident management system which shares critical data and enhances situation awareness for first responders in urban environments.

The Raytheon CommandPad system features several elements of the Edge Velocity wireless networking system such as capabilities of its Intelligent Base Station and the 802.11 standards-compliant Edge Interlock Routing Protocol.

Commenting on the deal, Edge Velocity CEO Paula C. Beauregard said that Edge Velocity is honoured to be a key participant in this pioneering application developed by Raytheon and being rolled out by the Fire Department of New York City.

"Our field-proven solutions deliver reliable wireless communications even in the midst of extreme, rapid-response situations like those encountered in New York City," added Beauregard.

The CommandPad to the FDNY is being installed, under an agreement with iXP.

Edge Velocity markets Edge Interlock Suite, which includes Edge Intelligent Base Station, Edge Vehicle Mounted Router, Edge Rapid Deploy Router and Edge Velocity Datapath Optimizer.

The company designs, manufactures and markets Mobile Internet Protocol wireless mesh equipment.
