AS&E to provide Z Portal system to Taiwan Aviation Police

American Science and Engineering (AS&E) has been awarded a contract by the for the Taiwan Aviation Police supply of Z Portal cargo screening system.

Under the contract, American Science and Engineering will deliver Z Portal cargo screening system for Taiwan Aviation Police.

The new contract complements the previously-purchased Sentry Portal system to provide optimal detection capability.

By co-locating their new Z Portal system with their existing Sentry Portal, Taiwan Aviation Police will have a more comprehensive air cargo screening.

The aviation police will also be able to better detect organic threats and other contraband in pallets and containers routed through Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

The Z Portal system uses AS&E’s patented Z Backscatter technology to offer comprehensive ability to detect explosives, drugs, stowaways, and other contraband while simultaneously facilitating the flow of traffic in combined multi-view imaging (left, right, and top-down) with the superior detection capabilities.

Ideal for high-traffic locations with space constraints and is safe for drivers, operators, cargo, and the environment, the relocatable screening system is available in two sizes one for large trucks, buses, and cargo vehicles, and a smaller size for passenger vehicles.

The Sentry Portal is a high-throughput, high-penetration, drive-through screening system designed for quickly and safely scanning trucks and cargo while maintaining the flow of commerce.

Capable of scanning scans containers at a rate of up to 150 per hour, the compact system is ideal at high-throughput environments such as crowded seaports, border crossings, and security checkpoints.
