Raytheon to support Relocatable Over the Horizon Radar system

The NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Support Center Norfolk Contracting Department has awarded a contract to Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems to extend support services for the Relocatable Over the Horizon Radar (ROTHR) system.

Under the $15.7m cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the company will provide engineering and technical services for the ROTHR system that supports the Forces Surveillance Support Center in Chesapeake, Virginia, US.

As the legacy radar system, ROTHR provides tactical wide area air and sea surveillance tracking information by making use of the High Frequency Over the Horizon radar.

The tactical information will help the centre to track and detect suspicious activities related to drug trafficking in Northern South American and Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico basins.

With a one year base performance period, the contract has two one-year options, which if exercised will bring the total value to $48.4m.

Work under the contract will be carried out at Massachusetts, Virginia, Texas and Puerto Rico, US, and is expected to be complete on 21 August 2013, which will continue to run through 22 August 2015, in case all options are exercised.

Issued on a sole source basis, the non-competitively procured contract has already awarded a minimum guaranteed amount of $1,000,000 with subsequent funding to be made at the resultant task order level as and when procurement requirement arises.
