Kratos to provide security system for critical infrastructure protection

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has been contracted to provide a specialty security system, to safeguard one of the largest municipalities that is located in the Northeast of the US.

Under the $18m single award contract, the company will design, engineer and deploy security system which includes hundreds of mobile surveillance cameras to provide critical infrastructure security for a large transportation network.

The systems will then be integrated into a command and control system.

Commenting on the contract, Kratos president and CEO Eric DeMarco said a new initiative where the company’s cyber security business, with its proprietary software products and solutions, was now being offered to its PSS critical infrastructure customers, along with National Security Agency customers.

Additionally, a first significant cyber related contract was also secured by the company, DeMarco added.

Kratos’ Public Safety and Security (PSS) division president Ben Goodwin said, "Kratos PSS customers are security and safety oriented, being primarily Critical Infrastructure, Strategic Asset, Transportation, Energy, Education, Healthcare or Financial in nature, and are typically not funded by the U.S. Federal Government."

The company provides command, control, communications, computing, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C5ISR), satellite communication systems, unmanned systems, cyber warfare, cyber security, information assurance, and critical infrastructure security.
