ETC Simulation to deliver ADMS-Command training suite to Portland’s Concordia University

Environmental Tectonics’ Simulation Division has received a contract from the Concordia University Portland for the delivery of a multi-level Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS)-Command training suite to its’ new Homeland Security Simulation Center.

To be deployed at Concordia’s Homeland Security Simulation Center at the new Columbia River Campus, the new ADMS suite integrates an on-scene incident command room with a 180-degree immersion theatre screen; four field unit positions and an emergency operations centre (EOC) room that facilitates integrated and multi-level team training.

Positioned in a separate room from the incident command and field unit stations, the EOC station features a multi-monitor wall for displaying 2D mapping and logistics information, in addition to the 3D on-scene visuals including a helicopter or CCTV view.

Besides the installed ADMS-Command Suite, the university has already taken the delivery of portable ADMS-Command system for deployment during off-site training exercises and events, which can also be linked to the installed system upon completion.

Concordia director of homeland security Scott Winegar said the goal of Concordia’s Homeland Security degree is simple: to provide students the knowledge, skills and leadership abilities they’ll need in their homeland security and emergency management careers and to prepare servant leaders to change the world.

"By offering this hands-on learning experience, we are bridging the gap between classroom theory and real world experience," Winegar added.

Upon completion, the Simulation Center could also be hired by groups outside the university and, ADMS will also be integrated into the main prospectus for the university’s Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Programs beginning this fall.
