Iran’s new indigenous rescue robots to help bolster control over borders

Researchers at Iran’s Islamic Azad University, Yazd Branch, Central Iran, have built three types of military, rescue and minesweeping robots, in a bid to bolster border security.

One of the researchers’ Hadi Zare was quoted by the Iranian students’ news agency as saying: "The rescue robot has been designed to help injured troopers in war zones and provide first aid to them.

Integrating sensor, camera and microphone, the indigenously built robot facilitates connecting injured with commanding headquarters.

Capable of easily passing through barriers on its way, the newly built minesweeping robot is aimed at eliminating and detecting mines.

The military robot, which is similar to a tank on which weapons can be mounted, is also capable of passing through obstacle and can even spot any moving personnel through image processing.

Further, it can converse with the individual via microphone and shoot if it receives no response from the personnel.

As part of efforts to bolster surveillance activities across its borders, Iran had deployed a range of aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and equipped its Law Enforcement Police with drones to execute missions and deploy them when needed.

Earlier, Iran also planned to upgrade its border monitoring system to help better control border conditions and movements, while notifying border checkpoints over their weak performance.
