Indian Coast Guard commissions ICGS Rajdoot patrol vessel

The Indian Coast Guard has commissioned sixth of eight 50m-long Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPVs), Rajdoot, at Kolkata, India.

Commissioned by the Controller General of Defence Accounts ArunavaDutt, the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers-built Rajdoot ship has a maximum speed of 34k and an endurance of 1500nm.

Integrated with modern weaponry and advanced communication and navigational equipment, the 300t indigenous IPV can support multiple close-coast missions including surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue, and medical evacuation.

Additional features of the vessel include integrated bridge management system (IBMS), integrated machinery control system (IMCS), an integrated gun mount, an indigenous fire control system (FCS) and 30mm CRN-91 gun as main armament.

Based at New Mangalore, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Rajdoot will be under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West).

Commanded by commandant AnupamRai, the high-speed water jet propelled ICGS Rajdoot is capable of accommodating a crew of five officers and 30 personnel.

The ship will enhance ICG’s capability to undertake operations to further maritime and coastal security on the Western Seaboard, while also ensuring protection on the Eastern Seaboard of the nation.

Currently, ICG operates up to 82 ships and boats.
