Raytheon bolsters cyber research potential with new UK Cyber Innovation Centre

Raytheon is set to open its new Cyber Innovation Centre (CIC) in the South-West of England, which would broaden its global cyber research capability.

Joining the company’s global network of cyber centres, the new centre will mainly target cyber and information assurance projects as well as deliver development and test capability against existing and future global cybersecurity threats.

Raytheon UK chief executive Richard Daniel said: "The new facility marks a significant investment of financial and intellectual capital for Raytheon in the UK, and continues the growth and capability expansion of our intelligence and security business.

"Our end-to-end cyber capabilities include cyber defence solutions to address insider threats, counter intelligence, data analytics and secure information sharing.

"Raytheon’s CIC will partner with field experts, academia and prime contractors to provide leading software development and vulnerability research services to help customers become resilient and operate with confidence in cyber space."

The new centre, which will operate as a research, development and innovation hub, will involve more than 100 cyber specialists, who will work with a range of governmental and commercial clients to resolve their complex cybersecurity challenges.

Further, CIC will enable Raytheon to work together with its partners on projects and demonstrations while widening its cyber expertise to other international sites.

Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services business president Lynn Dugle said: "The cyber threat extends globally and the opportunities for innovative solutions are global as well.

"The UK Cyber Centre expands Raytheon’s network of global cyber capability and innovation centres while tapping into UK’s strong talent pool as we defend some of the world’s most sophisticated networks against very complex threats."

In addition to delivering rapid threat response, advanced persistent threat defence, as well as business processes to deal with cyber threats, the centre would assist the UK in building a workforce with high-demand skills and skills in the budding cyber sector.
