US Navy awards ATC engineering and technical services contract to CSSI

CSSI has received a contract to provide air traffic control (ATC) engineering and technical support services to the US Department of the Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWAR).

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has a maximum ceiling value of $199m over the course of five years.

Under the terms of contract, the company will provide engineering support services for electronic systems to SPAWAR and other government organisations.

CSSI Business Development vice-president Kent Starnes said: "CSSI looks forward to continuing to leverage its expertise to help the Navy execute its mission and achieve its goals.

"We have 25 years’ experience in all areas of air traffic management, and we’ve helped deliver many of the programmes and services that have made the airways safer and more efficient both in the United States and abroad."

Technical responsibilities under the contract will include engineering design, budgeting, scheduling, management, procurement, evaluation, software support, integration, maintenance, certification, testing, training, configuration management, as well as field logistics support for many programmes.

The programmes include ATC, Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC), US Antarctic Programme (USAP), Naval Flight Information Group (NAVFIG) Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS) Programme, and the US Air Forces Central (USAFCENT) programmes, systems, and equipment.

Majority of the work under the contract is scheduled to be delivered in Charleston, South Carolina, where the company has a longstanding presence.
