Terma unveils ET2 embedded tracker for coastal surveillance

Terma has unveiled a new ET2 embedded tracker for the SCANTER 5000 series of radar sensors for use in vessel traffic service (VTS) and coastal surveillance applications.

The new knowledge-based embedded tracker, ET2 is capable of tracking stealth manoeuvring objects as well as small targets even in the presence of clutter.

Featuring Interacting Multiple Models kinematic estimator with extended Kalman filters, the new tracker can handle complex situations with up to 500 targets.

Designed for use in a number of radar applications, the ET2 tracker is capable of surveillance and monitoring of vessel traffic by VTS Control Centers as well as monitoring and interception of smuggling of drugs and illegal immigrants.

In addition to providing surveillance data to shore-based law-enforcing authorities such as coast guards and harbour police, the new system provides coastal surveillance of small targets under harsh conditions, while protecting people and infrastructure against illegal activities.

The new embedded tracker also features adaptive clutter density estimation, adaptive track/plot association based on target history as well as probabilistic and knowledge-based Plot-to-Track Association.

Additional features of the tracker includes network interface for data, control, and monitoring integrate reliable track data with control centre displays.

The company will also unveil trackers for SCANTER 4000 and 6000 series as well as the SCANTER ground surveillance radar.
