Telephonics to deliver communication systems for Republic of Korea’s Medevac helicopter

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has awarded a contract to Telephonics to incorporate its TruLink Wireless Intercommunications system within the Republic of Korea’s KUH Surion Medevac helicopter.

The latest deal marks TruLink’s maiden deployment by the South Korean military to enable its medical squads to communicate for the period of critical, lifesaving missions.

Telephonics president and chief executive officer Joseph Battaglia said: "Telephonics looks forward to working closely with KAI and South Korea’s Medevac teams to enhance the clarity of communications in extremely high noise environments, enabling them to more effectively administer care to patients in critical need.

"The reliability and versatility of this technology makes it ideal for use across a wide variety of applications and we are very pleased to bring this important capability to the South Korean military."

Eliminating the long cables that usually bind helicopter crews to aircraft, Telephonics’ TruLink system will enable intercommunications among all the involved parties, including the patient, the flight crew and hospital staff during ground or airborne missions.

It can be operated as a standalone system, or even as a wireless extension to an on board Intercommunications System (ICS).

TruLink’s in-built ambient noise reduction feature delivers clear, intelligible communications in the high noise environments often faced during Medevac missions.
