Swedish Police deploys MorphoBIS identification system

The Swedish National Police Board (Rikspolisstyrelsen) has deployed Morpho’s next generation identification system, MorphoBIS, marking it the first European deployment of the device.

Designed to investigate, identify and verify crimes in law enforcement applications, the MorphoBIS automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) is currently operational with police services in the US and Canada.

The AFIS’s unrivalled speed and accuracy will enable real-time identification of suspects and criminals.

The system features fused algorithms to provide latent and tenprint accuracy according to FBI and NIST ELFT-EFS benchmark as well as open software architecture for easy integration into an existing IT infrastructure with non proprietary components.

Capable of fully integrating fingerprints, palm-prints, face images, signatures, descriptive and other data, the crime-solving tool enables easy image enhancement tools usage on all workstations.

The system is equipped with dual screen display with flexible GUI components and is also compliant to international standards such as ANSI/NIST ITL1- 2007 and 2-2008 as well as FBI EBTS V9.1 and EBTS IEPD-XML V2.0.

Additional features of the identification system include enhanced usability, user interface to integrate high productivity and powerful expert tools and common database for storing person and criminal case records.

Compliant with the European Union’s Prüm Regulation, the MorphoBIS system also enables easy data exchange between police forces of the 30 signatory countries.
