Swedish Home Guard to receive additional battlefield radios from Selex ES

Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a subcontract by CELAB Communications to supply further communication systems to meet the battlefield needs of the Swedish Home Guard.

Under the subcontract, Selex will supply 4,425 man-worn enhanced encrypted personal role radio (EZPRR) systems as well as ancillaries and spares to meet the requirements of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV).

Designed to enhance combat effectiveness, the EZPRR communications system enables voice and data transmission between Group/Squad leaders, platoon commanders and platoon vehicles including tracked, wheeled and boats, as well as for internal group/squad communications.

The EZPRR system features simple human-machine interface to enable easy operation and uses advanced 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology to meet the needs of the soldiers.

Additionally, the unobtrusive and comfortable to wear system is rugged enough to sustain the harshest environments which are encountered by soldiers during active front line operations.

The EZPRR also features modular design, a unique wireless press-to-talk (PTT) to allow the user to operate the radio without using hands, an interchangeable switch pack and audio ancillaries that can be tailored to suit the needs of all users.

The EZPRR has been designed to be configured and the PRR body is integrated with either of two interchangeable PTT switch assemblies including Single PTT Switch Pack for operating the EZPRR only and Dual PTT Switch Pack.

The Dual PTT switch pack is used for commander to connect to the EZPRR and Combat Net Radio (CNR).

CELAB earlier delivered 8,700 Selex ES EZPRR man-worn systems and around 50 vehicle systems to FMV.
