Summit Air Ambulance to receive two AW119Kx helicopters

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, has signed a contract with Summit Air Ambulance of Idaho for two AW119Kx helicopters to support EMS operations in the Northwest US.

Under the contract, AgustaWestland will deliver two AW119Kx to Summit Air Ambulance.

AgustaWestland North America sales and marketing vice president Robert Brant said that the AW119Kx’s technological upgrades will allow Summit Air Ambulance to safely conduct lifesaving EMS missions in the communities they operate.

"Summit Air Ambulance has proven time and again to be a reliable and efficient provider of critical care transport, and it is with great pride we announce they are continuing their relationship with AgustaWestland by adding two AW119Kx helicopters to their fleet," Brant added.

The AW119Kx features the Garmin G1000HTM integrated flight deck system as well as new avionics system comprising a synthetic vision system, moving map, highway in the sky and obstacle/terrain avoidance systems for improved pilot situational awareness and safety.

Till date, over 100 customers in more than 30 countries have ordered nearly 240 AW119 helicopters.

Work under the contract will be conducted at AgustaWestland’s Philadelphia facility and are scheduled to be delivered starting in late 2014.

The new AW119Kx has been designed to conduct various missions including EMS, VIP/corporate transport, utility, fire-fighting, law enforcement and government duties.
