SCRA launches Alastar public safety software

SCRA has launched a new public safety technology, Alastar, at the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 9-1-1 Conference and Trade Show, which is currently underway at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, US.

Designed to provide clarity for end users in complex situations, Alastar solution assists in the decision-making process by incorporating large data sets into geospatial views that can be understood easily.

Built to make communities safer, the software provides situational awareness for public safety providers as well as interagency coordination.

SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney said that the software provides ability to share wide area situational awareness across multiple public safety agencies which is crucial to provide an effective response in an emergency situation.

"Leaders at all levels of government, as well as corporations with critical infrastructure, want to have a handle on what’s happening in and around their region," Mahoney added.

"Alastar answers this need and builds upon SCRA’s expertise – from Project SeaHawk and the US Coast Guard Interagency Operations Center to the WatchKeeper program – by providing the latest proven technology for interoperable public safety software."

The Alastar uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist first responders and other security personnel to fully assess their current environment and identify existing or emerging threats, while increase the speed and effectiveness of emergency response.
