San Antonio Police Department selects Smith & Wesson’s M&P pistols

The San Antonio Police Department has awarded a firearms contract to Smith & Wesson to deliver duty side arms from the company’s M&P pistol series, following the completion of extensive testing and evaluation period.

Prior to its selection based on quality and dependability, the M&P40 pistol was compared with a range of firearms from various competitors and was finally chosen for its professional-grade features and performance during live-fire exercises.

Under the contract, the company will deliver 2,600 M&P40 pistols chambered in .40 S&W to the department that has more than 2,100 sworn officers.

The company will also provide services such as armourer’s’ classes and transitional training for officers, in addition to supplying new duty sidearms for the department.

Equipped with customisable grip inserts and features to facilitate operation from any hand, the new handgun platform has been designed to enable users to disassemble the firearm without pulling the trigger.
