GD partners with EADS North America to deliver security systems

General Dynamics has partnered with EADS North America to provide cost-effective border protection and security systems for customers worldwide.

The team will deliver tower-based integrated radar and sensor systems for an "always-on, ever-aware" picture of human activity in and around national borders.

EADS North America chairman and chief executive officer Sean O’Keefe said, "Along with our partners at General Dynamics, our SPEXER™ radar and detection systems integration experience will help provide a proven, reliable and cost-effective solution for customers like the Department of Homeland Security."

General Dynamics C4 Systems President Chris Marzilli said that the GD’s long-term partnership with EADS is expected to offer a system with proven capabilities to become an effective force multiplier for the US Border Patrol.

"In addition to greater situational awareness overall, border patrol agents will also have the critical tools needed to rapidly detect, identify and respond to potential threats at the nation’s borders," Marzilli added.

"As the General Dynamics-built Rescue 21 system has delivered life-saving capabilities to the U.S. Coast Guard through its network of integrated towers and command systems, I believe the General Dynamics-EADS team is poised to deliver the best, most cost-effective border security solution for the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol who are responsible for keeping the nation’s borders secure and its citizens safe."

In addition to implementing Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT) programme, which is currently under US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) evaluation, the team is also currently working together to implement cost-effective systems and capabilities as a part of other border security programmes.
