FEMA NED awards support services contract to SAIC

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a prime contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to support national preparedness across homeland security enterprise.

Under the single-award, cost-plus fixed-fee contract, the company will provide exercise design and control support services to the FEMA National Exercise Division (NED) in support of the National Exercise Program (NEP).

SAIC will provide support services which include Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) compliant support to the Federal Interagency and whole community at the national, state, territorial, tribal and local levels over two-year NEP cycle.

SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager JT Grumski said that the company will provide design and control support services to the National Exercise Division to support the National Exercise Program as well as to boost nation’s collective capability to combat against threats and hazards.

SAIC senior vice president Michael Simms added, "This win demonstrates SAIC’s understanding of the National Exercise Program mission for examining preparedness and measuring the readiness of the United States across the entire homeland security enterprise through a progressive cycle of all hazard exercises."

The FEMA aims to assess and evaluate national preparedness, with NEP base plan as foundation, across the homeland security enterprise.

The contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and is valued approximately $39m, if all options are exercised.
