CloseWatch unveils new platform for crime reporting

CloseWatch, a public and personal safety technology solutions developer, has unveiled its new technology platform for crime reporting.

Known as the iWatch mobile app, this new analytics platform allows citizens to report suspicious activities to the concerned law enforcement and government agencies.

The company has said that the new application will be deployed by the US Army, which will help them in securing more than 20 domestic bases to strengthen their anti-terrorism efforts and crime prevention.

CloseWatch founder and CMO Daniel Elliott said: "iWatch brings the concept of the neighbourhood watch to the Facebook generation. The success of our pilot program across 280 schools in Texas not only validated the platform, it resulted in criminal acts being stopped.

"The US Army’s rapid deployment of our solution across strategic bases is further proof that citizens, in addition to surveillance, are key to protecting our troops and their families domestically and abroad."

This crime reporting platform is powered by intelligent tactical alert groups (iTAG) system, which classifies inbound tips in accordance with FBI’s uniform crime reporting codes.

This system automatically sorts the information according to rank, role and region. In the case of severe offences such as terror threats and active shooters, then tips are sent to the agency and officers in that location.

The messages and tips are forwarded automatically to public and concerned officials without human interaction. This crime reporting platform has the ability to process all the tips in less than eight seconds of time, which is faster than 911 calls.

This app is not intended to serve as an alternative to 911 in case of emergencies.
