Blighter Surveillance develops new mast-mounted mobile e-scan radar

Blighter Surveillance Systems has introduced new mobile e-scan radar, known as Blighter Revolution 360.

The radar is designed to address the low-cost and lightweight vehicle-mobile radar surveillance requirement for defence and security markets.

Revolution 360, which requires less than 100 Watts of power, features coactive Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) Doppler fast-scan processing to enable detection of small and slow moving targets including walking person at 7.4km or a large moving vehicle at 22km.

Blighter Surveillance Systems CEO Mark Radford said the Blighter Revolution 360 will provide all the benefits of long-range B400 series radar in a format to mobile surveillance market.

"This is a big advantage in this market as many customers will want to slew a thermal camera system to track intrusions and allow fast identification of any possible threat," Radford added.

Deployable on vehicle or trailer masts, the Blighter Revolution 360 system can achieve full 360-degree ‘scan & pan’ surveillance in just 12.5 seconds while operating in Vortex fast-scan mode.

"Our system features a non-rotational central post for mast-top camera mounting and our BlighterView HMI 2 software platform is designed to integrate with a wide range of third party camera systems to make this a straightforward process."

The radar has a mast payload of 38kg and also features specially-designed maintenance-free cable drive azimuth positioner to provide 360-degree surveillance capability.
