Bell Helicopter to deliver seven 429 aircraft to Swedish National Police

Bell Helicopter has received a contract from the Swedish National Police for the delivery of seven Bell 429 helicopters.

Joining the agency’s already existing Bell 206 Jet Ranger, the new aircraft fleet will be deployed to execute police missions including surveillance, reconnaissance, maintaining public order, aerial photography, aid in rescue missions and police transportation.

Bell Helicopter Europe managing director Patrick Moulay said: "We are honoured the Swedish National Police have chosen us to continue providing them with the aircraft their missions demand.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to help the Swedish National Police protect and serve their country."

Scheduled for delivery in 2015, the Bell 429 helicopters will be heavily customised in Bell Piney Flat facilities.

The light twin-engine helicopter comes with two-litter capability with sufficient cabin space for accommodating two medical attendants and two crew members.

Further, the aircraft also features fully integrated glass cockpit, advanced drive system and fully-coupled GPS approaches and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capability that boosts flight performance.

Certified for single or dual pilot operations, the helicopter integrates safety features, such as a collective mounted throttle; damage tolerant hub and rotor system; and energy attenuating seats.

According to Bell Helicopters, Bell 429 variant is the first helicopter certified through the MSG-3 process, which results in trimming down operators’ maintenance costs.
