Battelle and Rhombus collaborate on nuclear security offerings for US DoD

Non-profit research and development organisation Battelle has collaborated with Silicon Valley startup Rhombus Power to deliver nuclear security offerings for the US Department of Defense (DoD).

The collaboration is aimed at supporting the DoD’s Man Portable Radiation Detection System (MRDS) programme, which offers required detection potentials to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) teams and facilitate the flow of critical information on an adversary’s WMD programme.

Battelle CBRNE Defense business general manager Matt Shaw said: "Rhombus’ unique nuclear detection platform complements our portfolio of products and services for the government.

"We look forward to working together with Rhombus on this important radiation and nuclear detection issue."

Battelle delivers Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) defense offerings and has been meeting the challenge of trimming down CBRNE threats with latest technologies and a systems engineering-based approach aimed at meeting the security requirements of the nation.
