AS&E to supply ZBV systems for a Latin American law enforcement agency

American Science and Engineering (AS&E) has been awarded a contract to supply three ZBV systems for an undisclosed Latin American law enforcement agency.

The ZBV cargo and vehicle screening systems will be deployed by the agency for port and checkpoint security applications.

AS&E Worldwide Marketing and Sales senior vice president Robert Postle said the system order was a follow-on contract for law enforcement use in the region.

"Our mobile ZBV systems are ideal for deployment in the region and continue to prove their unparalleled ability to help law enforcement agencies achieve their security missions," Postle added.

The ZBV system is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system and is available in three configurations.

Designed for homeland security and force protection applications, the ZBV systems can detect vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), drugs, stowaways and other contraband in war zones and military bases as well as ports and borders.

The system is currently operational with the government agencies, border authorities, military bases, law enforcement departments and security agencies worldwide including US Customs and Border Protection, Abu Dhabi Customs, NATO Communications and Information Agency, Dutch Customs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, the system is being used by customs security for a Port Authority in Asia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to fight against illegal export.

The company has delivered 630 ZBV cargo and vehicle inspection system to more than 127 different customers in 59 countries.
