Airbus to deliver one H145 light helicopter to Guangzhou Police

Airbus Helicopters has been awarded a contract to deliver one H145 light helicopter for Hong Kong’s Guangzhou Police.

Expected to be delivered at the end of 2016, the helicopter will be used for law enforcement duties.

Vice Mayor and Guangzhou Police general director Xie Xiaodan said: "Helicopters are a great resource for law enforcement agencies, as they can effectively help ground forces to accomplish a multitude of operations including air patrol, transportation of police force, firefighting, disaster relief and rescue, traffic dispersion and air command.

"I am confident that the H145 can help to improve our efficiency and capability to serve the people of Guangzhou."

The H145 is equipped with a modern mission management system for a variety of police operations including emergency medical services (EMS), search-and-rescue (SAR), offshore oil and gas personnel transport, windmill maintenance, business and commercial aviation, fire-fighting, transportation of maritime pilots, and electronic news gathering.

The helicopter features roomy, flexible cabin, forward-looking infrared (FLIR) definition and daylight cameras that are controlled by an operator who also handles communications and data exchange with ground-based police resources.

The H145 helicopter, formerly called the EC145 T2, is the latest member of Airbus Helicopters’ 4-ton-class twin-engine rotorcraft product range and can transport eight to ten officers at once.

Over 1,000 H145s are currently operational, performing various public services and air ambulance services.

In December 2014, Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia Police Force ordered six law enforcement variants of H145, which are scheduled to be delivered between 2016 and 2017.
