Airbus Helicopters delivers first H225 helicopter to Argentine Coast Guard

The Argentine Coast Guard has received its first H225 helicopter by Airbus Helicopters, as a part of the service’s plans to renew its fleet of SA330 Puma helicopters with new-generation helicopters.

Based in the city of Mar del Plata, the new helicopter will be used for search and rescue missions in the Argentinean Sea.

The H225 helicopter features automatic flight control system (AFCS) enabling safer and effective search and rescue missions.

The aircraft is equipped with searchlights, a winch and a rescue basket enabling it for operations such as the search and rescue missions, coastal surveillance, port security or aid missions for coastal communities.

In addition, the aircraft consists of a self-deployable emergency floatation device and a traffic collision and avoidance system linked to the autopilot.

The Prefecto Nacional Naval, Luis Alberto Heiler said: "We thank the National Government and the Ministry of Security for supporting the Coast Guard’s fleet renewal process with new-generation helicopters that will increase our effectiveness when it comes to saving lives at sea.

"This helicopter’s extensive range will allow us to fly to zones far from the coast. In addition, it is equipped for day and night rescue operations and extreme weather conditions."

A part of Airbus Helicopters’ Super Puma series, H225 is certified for flights in icing condition.
