AgustaWestland receives order from Croatian Police for one AW139 helicopter

The Croatian Police has awarded a contract to AgustaWestland to deliver an AW139 intermediate twin-turbine helicopter, which will be operated for border and maritime patrol.

Under the contract, which was awarded after a comprehensive evaluation process of competing bids, the company will provide a significant training package, including the licencing of six pilots and 13 technicians.

Co-financed with EU Internal Security Funds 2014/2020, the contract also includes support and training services.

Scheduled to replace an older aircraft, the AW139 features a high definition latest generation FLIR turret, HD video link system, searchlight, rescue hoist and a cabin mission console.

The Croatian Police will deploy the helicopter mainly in Border Control operations, including maritime tasks.

More than 220 customers have placed orders for almost 840 AW139 helicopters so far. Around 70 countries worldwide currently operate the AW139 for a wide range of missions including offshore transport, law enforcement and homeland security duties, EMS/SAR, utility, fire fighting, executive/private transport, and other government roles.

Several law enforcement and border security agencies also operate the AW139 in Italy, the US, Japan, Bulgaria, Chile, Oman, Brazil, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the UAE and China.
