Telephonics wins to multi-mode radar contract from US Coast Guard

Telephonics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation, has secured an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract worth $31.8m from the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division.

Under this contract, the company will supply multi-mode radar APS-143C(V)3 to the United States Coast Guard’s HC-27J Spartan medium-range maritime surveillance platform.

The APS-143C(V)3 maritime surveillance system has several capabilities including long-range target search, detection and tracking in high sea-states, Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), weather avoidance, and Search and Rescue Transponder (SART) beacon modes.

In addition, the maritime surveillance system can support HC-27J operators during missions.

“The APS-143C(V)3 will provide enhanced radar capabilities to the USCG, enabling increased maritime awareness in support of their mission critical work.”

The APS-143C(V)3 is deployed on the USCG HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft, as well as domestic and international platforms.

It is utilised in maritime surveillance, reconnaissance, search and rescue, law enforcement and border protection missions.
