Wyle to support US Coast Guard C4ISR combat system

The Defense Technical Information Center has awarded a contract to Wyle to provide engineering support for the US Coast Guard’s integrated command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) combat system.

Under the $1.5m contract, Wyle will perform integrated engineering and technical research, development and analysis mainly at the C4ISR office in Moorestown, New Jersey, US while ensuring the new assets meet operational demands.

Wyle will also enable Coast Guard to acquire new surface and aviation platforms by developing baseline for life cycle sustainment while retaining existing ones, as a part of the contract.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will also provide specific programme management requirements’ engineering and technical analysis and expertise.

Wyle’s systems analysis and integration sector manager Denise Canter said: "This award enables us to perform the next logical step of improving the effectiveness of the C4ISR systems."

Featuring command and control weapons, fire control, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems, the integrated C4ISR combat system provides and displays data using its shipboard sensors.

The navigation equipment of the C4ISR system provides ship’s location information while the command and control equipment provides both offensive and defensive capabilities.

The modification contract follows the previously awarded contract to Wyle to analyse the ways to satisfy the Coast Guard’s C4ISR systems mission requirements through technical and acquisition recommendations.

In addition to evaluating design concepts and specification requirements, the contract involved providing reliability and maintainability data and developing metrics for design maturity.

The work will enable the US Coast Guard to achieve National Security Cutter’s configuration baseline as well as for long and medium range surveillance systems and future acquisition projects with existing platforms commonalities enhancements.
