Implant delivers QS-H150 units to Mexico City International Airport

Implant Sciences has delivered eight Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 handheld explosives trace detectors to the Mexico City International Airport, as part of a follow-on order.

The units will be deployed to strengthen aviation security such as screening of hand luggage and passengers at security checkpoints.

In addition to providing training of security personnel, the QS-H150 units provide safer screening environment for both security personnel and travellers due to its non-radioactive ion source, according to airport administrators.

Implant Sciences Sales and Marketing vice president Dr. Darryl Jones said the follow-on order represents the systems’ performance and reliability, while also the need to expand screening capability.

Using Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) technology, the QS-H150 is capable of quickly and accurately detecting trace amounts of a wide variety of military, commercial, and homemade explosives.

Capable of providing high levels of operational availability, the Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 indicates parts-per-trillion (ppt) levels of explosives vapour and nanogram quantities of explosives particulates for the users.

The QS-H150 has been designated as Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act).

Featuring a low-maintenance, self-calibrating, and self-clearing design with no radioactive materials, the QS-H150 has already validated its capability in a wide variety of temperatures and challenging environments, from humid jungles to dry, sand swept deserts.
