UTC installs imaging system on new helicopters of Mississippi Department of Public Safety

UTC Aerospace Systems has installed its Cloud Cap Technology TASE 400HD airborne imaging system on board the new Airbus helicopters deployed by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Air Operations in the US.

With the new Cloud Cap Technology TASE 400HD, the Mississippi Highway Patrol Air Operations will be able to execute high-performance day and night thermal imagery in support of its multi-mission potential in patrol, hurricane support and drug enforcement.

Mississippi DPS Air Operations’ lieutenant Jason Seal said: "With the TASE 400HD we were able to achieve all the features we needed for operations and due to the minimal size and weight of the system it had virtually no effect on aircraft performance."

According to UTC Aerospace, the thermal imager integrated in the TASE 400HD imaging system is capable of viewing in total darkness and throughout almost all weather conditions.

The daylight camera will offer the US agency with better high-definition imagery for improved situational awareness, and public and officer safety.

Further, the new system will enable Mississippi DPS to automatically and evidently track fixed or moving targets of interest, as well as easily spot and report the location of doubtful activity, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
