US approves GD’s TNE cyber for classified government networks

The US government has approved General Dynamics (GD) C4 Systems’ Trusted Network Environment (TNE) version 11 cyber to operate on classified government networks using the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 enterprise platform.

Capable of reducing the complexity of navigating through various classified file systems with one-window interface, TNE version 11 has been designed to enable users to view and share classified information across security boundaries.

The enhancement further ‘hardens’ TNE software multilevel security function while maintaining the ease-of-use of a Microsoft Windows-like computing environment for Intelligence Community, military and other government agencies.

General Dynamics C4 Systems vice president of Federal Systems and Cyber Solutions Bill Ross said, "This government approval enables a larger community of defense and intelligence personnel, those working on Linux systems, to have greater agility when working with multiple levels of security within different operating domains."

Military and government customers can use TNE to share sensitive information across security boundaries from a single shared network while reducing cyber operating and maintenance costs as well as enhance operational flexibility.

The new software features advanced data-labeling technology to separate classified and unclassified data for users to view only their individual security profiles without visibility into other data files, applications or users.

When used with PitBull security, the TNE cyber information-sharing solution provides military and government customers improved security and access to classified data at various security levels from a single enterprise environment based on a user’s security credentials and access privileges.

The multi-level web services and chat capabilities of the TNE also enables users on different network domains to share the same chat room.
