Taser to supply its X26P Smart Weapons for Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in US
Taser has received an order for the supply of a total of 2,500 Taser X26P Smart Weapons for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), the joint city-county law enforcement agency in the US.
Under the contract, the company will upgrade 2,500 old Taser weapons to the new Smart Weapons using the new Taser 60 annual payment plan.
The annual, five-year Taser 60 plan provides warranties and on-spare equipment for the devices for five years.
Taser International CEO and co-founder Rick Smith said: "Our mission is to make a Taser Cew available to every officer, so they have the best options available to avoid injury or death.
"Our Taser 60 plan provides a new, cleaner alternative for allowing Smart Weapons to be a budgetary line item providing better financial visibility.
"We believe the JSO is making an important move toward a world where every officer has the best technology and training to minimise the chances of a deadly encounter."
The Taser 60 plan integrates warranty coverage for an agency's existing Taser Smart Weapons, as well as on-site spares so officers experience zero downtime.
The Taser X26P has an ergonomically designed handle and is similar to previous generations of Taser weapons. It is a single-shot device and does not require replacing inventories of cartridges.
Its intuitive design allows for a smooth transition to the next-generation of Smart Weapons.
