RIBCRAFT delivers 25ft-long RIB to Decatur Police Department in US

US-based RIBCRAFT has delivered a specialised rigid inflatable boat (RIB), RIBCRAFT 7.8, for use by the Decatur Police Department.

Intended for conducting tactical operations and on water patrols, the 25ft-long purpose-built mission-specific RIB will allow the police to fulfil technical rescue and hazardous materials mitigation.

Based on Tennessee River, the RIB will provide complete search as well as rescue and boat assistance duties in the wake of growing recreational boating activities and special events on the river.

The boat will feature a centre console with a front bench seat, leaning post, custom aft seating and tow post, providing a large open deck to offer the versatility needed to support the department’s operational requirements.

Powered by twin Yamaha 150HP engines, the boat is capable of reaching maximum speed of more than 50mph while still providing unparalleled safety and unsurpassed performance.

The boat also features chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) capabilities for an advanced defence strategy.

The CBRN detection sensor allows the police to take protective measures in situations where any of these four hazards are present.

CBRN defence includes passive protection, contamination avoidance and CBRN mitigation.

The company also offers vessels as long as 15ft and are designed to be capable of fulfilling almost any mission.
