Raytheon’s new wearable computers to support battlefield intelligence operations

Raytheon has launched a new wearable Intel-Ops intelligence and operations convergence system, aimed at supporting battlefield intelligence operations.

The new system combines the company’s Air Warrior wearable computing technologies and the DCGS-A Lite capability. It allows troops to obtain intelligence and generate new intelligence as they execute missions in bandwidth-challenged areas.

Integrating computer system with situational awareness potential, the new system develops an improved real-time view of the battlefield for commanders and their troops.

The system enables warfighters to prevail over challenges in delivering appropriate intelligence and operational data at the battlefield’s tactical edge by incorporating active Programs of Record.

Raytheon mission support and modernisation business vice-president Todd Probert said: "DCGS-A Lite integration with our wearable computing technologies for dismounted forces represents a first in a series of steps of where battlefield command and control is combined with relevant intelligence and information to provide commanders and soldiers enhanced situational awareness.

"Leveraging these two investments, Raytheon offers our customers a rapid, mature and affordable way to merge intelligence with operational data."

Raytheon’s new development has been selected for demonstration to the US Special Forces later this month.
