Raytheon Anschutz rolls out ShipGuard system to beef up vessel security

German Integrated Bridge Systems maker Raytheon Anschütz has launched its new ShipGuard shipborne security system, which will make its global debut at the SMM 2014 event in Hamburg.

Being offered as a stand-alone system, ShipGuard integrates the vessels’ already existing navigation systems including Automatic Identification System (AIS) and radar with a suite of surveillance cameras.

Based on Synapsis system architecture, ShipGuard can be configured and integrated with individual elements to comply with demanding consumer requirements.

Further, the system would allow upgrading existing or bridge system installations or as a functional task on Raytheon Anschütz’ Synapsis multi-functional workstations.

In addition to significantly beefing up vessel security and maritime situational awareness onboard, the ShipGuard system enables the crew early detection and identification of approaching contacts.

Raytheon’s system also enables spontaneous classification and efficient alarm zone monitoring plus easy monitoring of own and friendly units including support vessels or tender boats.

Application of ShipGuard onboard a range of vessels include, perimeter protection, privacy protection and tender tracking solutions onboard megayachts; in addition to oil rig and wind farm protection tasks carried out by offshore or wind farm service ships; and anti-piracy solutions mandated by cruise and cargo vessels.

Further, the ShipGuard can also be integrated with advanced options including Geo-Tiff maps; more radars or sonars; a marine small target tracker; data links for ship-to-ship or ship-to-shore data exchange; integrated search light control or even integrated control of effectors including acoustic devices, water cannons, or laser dazzlers.
